Your Privacy Is Important To Us

We appreciate our customers and understand the value of protecting your privacy. We hope to address your privacy-related questions here, but please feel free to email or call us if not.

Does Ichikawa collect my IP address?

No. If you use our Store to purchase Ichikawa products, your IP address (the electronic location of the computer you are using) may be collected by PayPal's secure servers - we use PayPal's shopping-cart and credit-card payment systems for simplicity and security.  Please click here to open a new browser window and access PayPal's website for more-detailed information.

Why does Ichikawa need my personal Information?

We use your name, e-mail address, phone number, mailing address and credit card information to process your orders from our online Store and/or to manage our customer email list.  These functions are completely optional for you, and we do not solicit your information unless necessary to process your specific request to purchase items or be added to our email list.  This information is stored in a secure database, and is only available to individuals with proper clearance and your credit card information to process Store purchases is handled directly by PayPal and is never sent to Ichikawa or stored by us.

We will aggressively seek to protect our customers in any investigation of credit-card fraud and/or identity theft, and therefore may share information with law enforcement agencies or companies assisting us in fraud prevention or investigations.   Otherwise, we do not share information provided to us by our customers; we do not sell, rent, loan, trade or in any other way share customer names, addresses, email addresses or other information with other individuals or organizations.

What is your credit card fraud policy?

In the unlikely event that you experience unauthorized use of your credit card, promptly report the fraudulent activity to your credit card company. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, you may be liable for the first $50 of the fraudulent charges; card companies may waive even this amount if reported promptly. If you, your credit card company or a law-enforcement agency requests our cooperation to investigate, we will assist in any way we can.   (Since we opened in 2000, only one instance of fraudulent use of a credit card has occurred and in Spring 2006, with our cooperation and testimony, the individual responsible was sentenced to over 3-1/2 years in state prison.)  Please check with your credit card company to verify specific terms and conditions.

Will I receive email from Ichikawa?

We only send information about our specials, menu changes, hours of operation and other things to our customers who have specifically requested that we do so, by signing up for our email notification list.

Additionally, we may use your email address to confirm orders placed through our online Store, or to follow up with any questions we may have to complete your order.

Please note that ordering from our online Store does not automatically add you to our email notification list; we are protective of our customers' privacy and understand that you may not wish to hear from us unless you tell us otherwise. Please use the Email List link at the left to do so.

And, of course, we will immediately remove you from our email notification list upon request.

How safe is it to shop online?

Internet use of credit cards with secure sites (such as PayPal, our processor) is now a very safe way of doing business with your credit card.  Your data is always transmitted to PayPal with secure encryption, and your credit-card information is never sent to us by PayPal.

What are cookies and how do they affect my privacy?

A "cookie" is a small file that serves as an identifier stored on your machine.  Ichikawa does not create, store or access cookies directly, but if you order from our online Store, PayPal (our shopping-cart and credit-card processor) uses cookies to make web shopping possible.  When you are ready to purchase an item, a cookie allows our Store to "remember" you have added the item to your shopping cart.

What if I really don't want to buy your products online?

We'll be happy to sell you our products in person at our restaurant (subject to availability of stock onhand) or with your credit card via telephone, fax (contact us for our fax number) or mail. For your protection, please do not send us credit card information via email.

Our site does contain links to other sites. Ichikawa is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites. If you have any additional questions about our privacy practices, please feel free to contact us.
